West Ham told to recall Ward-Prowse, he could be ‘absolutely vital under Potter’

Martin Allen has urged West Ham to recall James Ward-Prowse from Nottingham Forest as he can help harbour an “absolutely crucial” bond with supporters.

The Hammers sent the 11-cap England international to the City Ground for the season despite featuring in all but one Premier League game last season.

With Graham Potter now in charge at the London Stadium, there is every chance that the 30-year-old could see his temporary deal cut short (Sean Whetstone).

Former Irons midfielder Allen believes the ex-Southampton man will add passion to the East Londoners, which had been lacking before the new head coach’s arrival.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “He’s a West Ham player so hopefully it’s in the contract that he can be recalled.

I think he’s got a love for the club, an energy and a positive enthusiasm and that team spirit and unity on and off the pitch is absolutely vital.

I watched West Ham last week and most of the players never clapped the away supporters. That bond between players and fans is absolutely crucial and at the moment that is sadly lacking.

I’m sure that Graham Potter will not allow that to happen and Ward-Prowse could be a part of that.

West Ham to recall James Ward-Prowse from Nottingham Forest?

Despite a superb campaign for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side, which has seen them rise as high as second in the Premier League, the midfielder has hardly featured.

With just 10 appearances for the Reds, there is potential that Ward-Prowse isn’t best pleased with his opportunities considering it is a loan move.

A return to his parent club in the winter with a new manager in charge who may be able to get the best out of him could be wise for all parties.

As an option in the midfield alongside the likes of Tomas Soucek and Carlos Soler, the Englishman could be a useful addition in East London for the second half of the season.

In other West Ham, an ex-players advice needs to be taken soon after a development emerged this week.
