West Ham ‘to take extra steps’ to seal Oleksandr Zinchenko transfer

West Ham are reportedly keen on signing Arsenal defender Oleksandr Zinchenko in the coming weeks.

Dr Rajpal Brar, an injury expert, has assessed his fitness history and game time ahead of a potential transfer.

Last season, the Ukraine international made 15 appearances in the Premier League.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Dr Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “The club may take a closer look at his history of calf injuries, along with any age-related changes that are outside normal variance, considering the number of matches he’s played at a very competitive level.

“He’s 28, so there are no real red flags with regard to that.

“However, multiple injuries and erratic game time is bit of a worry.”

West Ham must make a move to sign Zinchenko

Zinchenko would be a transformative signing for West Ham, bringing versatility, experience and technical quality to their squad.

The 28-year-old Ukrainian, with 128 appearances for Manchester City and 91 for Arsenal, offers proven Premier League pedigree.

His ability to play left-back or midfield, honed under Pep Guardiola and Mikel Arteta, suits Potter’s possession-based system.

Zinchenko’s pass completion and defensive solidity add balance, addressing the Irons’ need for a reliable left-back after Emerson Palmieri’s inconsistent season.

With only one year left on his Arsenal contract, the Hammers could secure his services on a bargain.

His leadership and Champions League experience would bolster West Ham’s Europa League ambitions, making him a smart, high-impact addition to elevate their top-six push in 2025-26.
