West Ham to ‘sign Esteve from Burnley’ after Todibo transfer developments

West Ham could make a swoop for Maxime Esteve as Jean-Clair Todibo continues to struggle.

The Frenchman signed on an initial loan deal from OGC Nice in the summer but has failed to live up to the hype surrounding him at the London Stadium.

Since the introduction of Graham Potter, the 25-year-old has made just five appearances and could be on the way out in East London.

With the summer transfer window in mind, Burnley star Esteve could be brought in as Todibo is mooted with a potential Premier League exit.

Esteve could join West Ham from Burnley

The 22-year-old could prove to be an ideal replacement option from the Clarets after an excellent campaign in the Championship.

Burnley and Esteve have conceded the fewest goals in the second tier, with the Hammers having an interest in his signature stretching for over a year.

The former Montpellier man’s record this season is only likely to increase interest in his signature from the Irons ahead of the summer.

Former Brentford and Leicester City manager Martin Allen has put the defender’s name forward as a potential replacement for Todibo if he moves on

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “Esteve has played a part in the best defence in the Championship at Burnley.

They’ve hardly conceded. I imagine that every Premier League club will be looking at their squad and looking to see if there are any deals to be done.

Esteve would be in the bracket of being good enough for West Ham. It’s an opportunity for him to get a big contract and stay in the Premier League for the next five years of his career.

If I were a player, I would be looking to make that move.

West Ham will definitely be looking at a centre-back because Todibo isn’t good enough, and I think West Ham will look to move him on and get someone of a better standard.

West Ham to part ways with Todibo

There was so much hope when the former Barcelona man signed from Ligue 1, but he has failed to land a regular spot in the Hammers’ side.

Todibo has struggled with injury troubles, but even when he has played, his standards on the pitch haven’t quite been good enough.

With that being said, Esteve could prove to be the ideal replacement given how excellent he has been under Scott Parker at Burnley this season.

It is unclear as to how much the Championship ace could cost, but there is no doubt that he would be well received in E20.
