West Ham United coud ask for Declan Rice transfer fee in full – Finance Expert
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...
Dan Plumley has insisted that West Ham United could well demand any fee for Declan Rice this summer in full should he leave the London Stadium.
The finance expert admitted it was likely that any fee would be in instalments, with it set to cost over £100million with more twists to come in the market.
Arsenal have so far made two bids for the England international, but both have been rejected with not many clubs said to have up to £150million sitting in the bank.

“You can always ask the question, for sure,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“It’s a negotiation, isn’t it? There are no set rules on players transfers in terms of when the cash is due, it’s done in the negotiation.
“As we have seen over the years, the majority of deals are now done in instalments and if you’re talking about transfer fee north of £100million, more clubs have got a lot of money coming in but not all of them have got £150million sitting in the bank account, so I still think it is more likely you will see a structured deal with numerous payments and lots of bonuses and clauses.
“You do all of that to protect West Ham down the line and get some monetary value out of that, so that is the more likely option. Clubs can still ask for the money upfront, though, and that’s kind of a very hard negotiating tactic but it is on the table.
“I get the sense that he will move on and they will be looking to get the best deal they can, not only in the short term but the long term as well.”

It will be interesting to see what happens over the next couple of weeks, with Rice said to be expecting his exit before the end of this month.
If Arsenal, or any other club for that matter want him, they are going to have to stump up the cash to West Ham.
