West Ham given ‘green signal’ to sign Taiwo Awoniyi in new twist

Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi’s game time this season should not be a concern for West Ham, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert claims that the Hammers should ideally have a plan in mind to ramp up his fitness if they are to secure his services before the transfer window closes.

This comes after ExWHUEmployee reported on 17 January that the club were in talks to sign the 27-year-old Nigeria international.

Speaking exclusively with West Ham Zone, Brar, a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist, said: “It’s not something I would advise against just based on lack of game minutes.

Rather, I would advise that you need to have a methodical plan to get him up to speed and fitness so probably don’t bring him in thinking he will immediately be able to have a run of games.

If the club are sure about how he fits into the team, then based on his fitness, it would be a green signal from me.

West Ham need a striker better than Taiwo Awoniyi in this transfer window

With Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Niclas Fullkrug all injured, Graham Potter’s options in attack are limited.

The Hammers need to quickly bring in a quality striker as there’s not long left before the transfer window closes.

It remains to be seen who the hierarchy end up narrowing in on in the coming days.
