‘They’re no pushovers’ – Exclusive: McAvennie predicts West Ham v Crystal Palace

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie believes West Ham face a tough match against Crystal Palace at the London Stadium on Wednesday night but predicts David Moyes’ men will have enough about them to secure all three points.

West Ham will go into the clash having won all but one of their last five Premier League matches while Palace have also started to show an improvement by beating West Brom 5-1 and drawing with Tottenham in their last two.

McAvennie is wary of the threat that Roy Hodgson’s side could pose on Wednesday but still feels the Irons will win 2-0.

“I think they’ll beat Crystal Palace but they’re no pushovers,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.

“They’ll but them but it’ll be tight but I’m hoping to get a clean sheet. 2-0 for me.”

West Ham lost both of their Premier League meetings with Crystal Palace last season with the result being 2-1 on both occasions. However, before those games, the Hammers were unbeaten in eight matches against the Eagles.

Moyes’ side has looked very impressive this season, beating the likes of Leicester and Wolves while earning brilliant draws with Tottenham and Manchester City.

The Irons have beaten pretty much every team you would expect them to beat so why should we expect any less on Wednesday night?

Palace have had a couple of good results but on the whole, the South London side has been very inconsistent since winning their first two matches of the season.

In their last five outings, they’ve won two, drawn one and lost twice so who knows what Palace side will turn out at the London Stadium this week?

Hopefully it’s one the Hammers will be able to beat.

In other West Ham news, Said Benrahma could expose this struggling Crystal Palace ace on Wednesday.
