Steidten accused of undermining Lopetegui after West Ham United scenes v Tottenham
Dan Bardell believes Tim Steidten has undermined Julen Lopetegui at West Ham after being spotted in the tunnel before the defeat against Tottenham.
The Hammers fell to a humbling 4-1 defeat against Spurs on Saturday 19 October despite going 1-0 up through Mohammed Kudus.
Despite this moment, Ange Postecoglou’s side performed much better and deserved the result with Lopetegui coming under fire post-match for the showing.
Irons’ technical director Steidten was spotted talking with players in the tunnel before the game which Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks has negatively affected the new head coach.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “West Ham feels like a mess, at the moment. At the start of the season they’ve looked really disjoined, they don’t have a proper identity.
“It feels like, with Tim Steidten talking to the players in the tunnel, it does create the look of the manager not having the players backing.
“It undermines the manager I would say, so they need to fix up quickly because this season is already looking like it could turn into a difficult one.“

The German has already had plenty of say for the Hammers, taking control over transfers after the departure of David Moyes from the London Stadium.
This hasn’t exactly worked out given the likes of Niclas Fullkrug have struggled to have a positive impact since coming in.
With that being said, it becomes all the more bizarre that he was in and around the players before their derby clash against Tottenham.

This hasn’t gone down well with supporters and is unlikely to wash much longer with Lopetegui as he looks to stabilise his side in East London.
