Pundit wowed by what ‘iconic’ West Ham United star Mohammed Kudus did recently as Carlos Tevez verdict shared
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie admits the celebration Mohammed Kudus when he scores at West Ham United is “iconic” and the fans must cherish him while he remains at the London Stadium.
The Ghanaian international scored twice to help the Hammers get back on track in the Premier League with a 3-0 victory over Wolves at London Stadium last weekend (17 December).
Since his £38m [Sky Sports, 28 August] big-money summer move, the former Ajax man simply hasn’t looked back, scoring five goals and registering one assist in the Premier League and nine goals in all competitions helping Moyes paper over the cracks of his current striker problem at the London Stadium.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “That celebration really is iconic, it’s enjoyable and you can see the fans love him already.
“Listen, you can tell he didn’t know Lucas Paqueta was going to sit beside him for that celebration, he had the fright of his life.
“I mean, I’m not going to apologise for it, football is an entertainment sport, the fans want to be entertained.
“The players are there to entertain the crowd and if you have a bit of banter with the crowd, then that’s brilliant as long as it’s not going over the top and you’re not doing anyone any harm then I don’t see why footballers can’t entertain the crowd because that’s what we’re there for.
“We’re there to pay good money – not over the top by the way – to come and watch the team and be entertained and when they see the fans smiling, they know they’ve done their job.

“I know the celebration was at the away end, but if I was in the away end I’d be laughing as well.
“They are two great players, Kudus and Paqueta, and the fans must cherish them, especially Kudus and that celebration just shows his confidence and aura so fair play to him.
“I want more of that because West Ham United really are a good team when they play, when David Moyes takes the shackles off, they can be a joy to watch.
“It’s not often we get players like Paqueta, Kudus and Jarrod Bowen in one team. I mean over the years we had Carlos Tevez and Dimitri Payet back then but they were alone, we rarely get three superstars in one team.
“We got three or four damn good players in the team now, so let them play, take the shackles off, that’s my opinion.”
In other West Ham news, a journalist has made a prediction over Kudus’ future after what he saw last weekend.
