Pundit wowed as Dharmesh Sheth shares ‘extraordinary’ West Ham United transfer update on Al Ittihad forward Jota
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham United target Jota is a “wonderful talent” and David Moyes must move fast if he wishes to sign him.
Sky Sports news reporter Dharmesh Sheth speaking to GiveMeSport (19 January) shared that the Hammers are keeping an eye on the “extraordinary” situation of the Al Ittihad forward in the January transfer window
The Hammers are weighing up whether or not to go into the market this month for Jota with his current £200,000-a-week wages at the Saudi Arabia outfit so far proving “problematic”.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Yeah, I like him. He’s a really good player.
“I think he’d get the fans going, he’d get bums off seats at the London Stadium. He’s not just a good player, he also works his socks off, especially from what I saw of him at Celtic.
“Everyone calling him George Michael and all that, because of his looks but he’s a top player. When he loses the ball, he chases it back and that’s what David Moyes needs in attack.
“He scores goals, he causes trouble for opposition defenders, I wouldn’t have a problem with him coming but he hasn’t played at the top level for a while.
“But if he recaptures the form he enjoyed at Celtic, West Ham would get a wonderful talent because players like Said Benrahma and Pablo Fornals don’t look like they’ll be hanging around and he can play there all day long.

“If we’re gonna get the player that left Celtic, then Moyes must be quick to get him, I feel.”
