Pundit wants Manuel Lanzini, Jarrod Bowen and Said Benrahma to start for West Ham United v Derby County in FA Cup
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie wants Manuel Lanzini, Said Benrahma and Jarrod Bowen to start for West Ham in the FA Cup clash v Derby on Monday night (30 January).
The Hammers claimed their second win in nine games thanks to a 2-0 victory against Everton last time out, and now will look to build momentum by progressing through the FA Cup against League One opposition.
But McAvennie knows that another defeat would put the pressure right back on Moyes’ job and wants him to go with a strong side, including his most creative players to ensure they win and get the confidence of the team up.

“They’ve just won a game, get them back on the pitch, the same team, and get them comfortable,” he told West Ham Zone.
“If they get beat, the pressure is back on David. You know, my God, you don’t want to get beat.
“It doesn’t matter if it’s home or away, if they don’t go and win then the pressure is right back on him.
“He will say the team I put out should beat them, but sometimes it doesn’t work that way. We’ve not won for such a long time, just beat Everton at the weekend, put damn near the same team out and give them a bit of confidence in them.
“Believe in your ability again. That’s what West Ham need, they need to win some games.

“Cup tie or no cup tie, go out there and win it.
“I’d be surprised if he makes any sweeping changes. The boys with niggles, he’ll leave them out.
“But boys like Lanzini, Benrahma, Bowen, that’s where you win. They’ve got to show why they’re better players, why they’re at the top. Maybe get Antonio a couple of goals and then everyone is rosy again.“
