Pundit urges Brendan Rodgers to pick West Ham United manager’s job over Tottenham Hotspur this summer
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has urged Brendan Rodgers to pick West Ham over Tottenham if he has the choice of jobs this summer with David Moyes expected to leave.
The Hammers look to have avoided relegation after some vital results in recent weeks and are in the Europa Conference League semi-final, but Moyes is “increasingly likely” to leave the London Stadium this summer after a sub-par campaign.
One name linked with replacing him is Rodgers, who left Leicester earlier this month, and McAvennie would be thrilled if the former Celtic and Liverpool boss came over to east London.

“I think his teams play great football. I said that he’d be a great manager for Tottenham, but if he had the chance to go to Tottenham or West Ham then go to West Ham please,” he told West Ham Zone.
“He’s a good coach, Brendan. He’s a great manager. There’s a few of them.
“Mourinho wants to come back to London. Brendan, Potter. If David goes, even if he goes at the end of the season, I’d love for him to win a cup. Win the Conference League, keep us in the Premier League and then go with everyone’s blessing.
“Bring in Mourinho. Bring in Brendan or Potter. Either of the three would be great for West Ham.
“Mourinho is a serial winner no matter what you think of him, he’s a winner. He will get that defence sorted. He even had Zlatan saying he’d run through a brick wall for him.

“His tactics are second to none, he doesn’t leave anything to chance. That would be great for us.
“I just want West Ham to get someone to start playing decent football, because the football has been terrible. I’ve got to be honest.
“Sorry David, but it’s been awful to watch.”
