Pundit thrilled as West Ham line up ‘shock’ swoop for Everton striker Calvert-Lewin
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has been raving about Dominic Calvert-Lewin after West Ham were linked with a swoop to sign the Everton striker.
On 22 January, The Sun reported that the Hammers are lining up a “shock” move to sign the 24-year-old England international.
It is understood that a deal for Calvert-Lewin would set the Irons back £60million but Everton are desperate for cash after years of over-spending under Farhad Moshiri’s ownership.

McAvennie is a big fan of Calvert-Lewin and suggests that the striker may be keen on swapping a fight to avoid relegation at Goodison Park for a battle to finish in the top-four at the London Stadium.
“He’s a good player, there’s no doubt about it,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.
“He would fit in with the players who are already there.
“Everton are scrapping for points at the moment for a different reason to West Ham.
“Everton are struggling and whether you like it or not, I’m sorry, but you’re in a dogfight down there.
“If Calvert-Lewin comes to West Ham, he’ll get chances – you can be sure of that with some of the talented players David Moyes has got now.”

Calvert-Lewin has spent most of this season injured but has still managed to score three goals in six Premier League appearances.
Last season, he was fit most of the time and netted a whopping 21 times in 39 appearances across all competitions.
In other West Ham news, the Irons have tabled a bid to sign this £16.8million-rated defender.
