Pundit shares what he would ‘love’ David Moyes to do at West Ham United as ‘annoyed’ claim made
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie wants to see West Ham try and play good football against teams as opposed to always adopting a counter-attacking approach.
The Hammers suffered their second defeat of the new Premier League season with a 3-1 loss at Liverpool on Sunday (24 September).
The Anfield loss followed the home defeat to Manchester City last Saturday (16 September), with the Manchester outfit also winning 3-1.

After six matches, the East London outfit currently sit seventh in the Premier League table with 10 points to their name.
But former striker McAvennie is not happy with the style of football that is being played under manager David Moyes.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “I’m not trying to tell Moyes how to manage, but I like to see football being played. Sometimes you can’t do it, but we’ve got the players that can do it, that’s what is annoying me.
“Lucas Paqueta, Jarrod Bowen, Said Benrahma, Emerson, they are good players, I’d love to see them let off the leash and enjoy themselves.
“Everyone says it’s all about winning, I don’t know if it is, not for me anyway. I love the winning, but 20% possession and winning 3-1? They got battered against Chelsea possession-wise.
“I shouldn’t be complaining because they are getting great results, they are in the top half of the table, doing very well in terms of points. I just think we’re a better team than that. And Moyes will say, ‘we can’t have it both ways,’ but maybe we can.

“They’re doing very well, I love seeing them win, it’s great. But you watch it and think wow, that’s not a very good watch. When we get the ball and break we’re wonderful, but you can do that all the time.
“These boys can keep the ball, we don’t have to be that kind of team, they know how to keep the ball. Counter-attacking teams, when they get the ball they can’t keep it, but we can keep it, that’s why I’m annoyed. Hopefully we can get a happy balance and Moyes will sort it out.”
In other West Ham news, a Sky Sports pundit was wowed by what one “magnificent” Hammers ace did in the 3-1 loss against Liverpool.
