Pundit shares West Ham United prediction for Premier League clash v ‘flying’ Brighton
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes the clash between West Ham and Brighton is a “great chance” to see where the Hammers are currently at.
The East London outfit are unbeaten after two matches of the new Premier League season, having drawn 1-1 with Bournemouth and beaten Chelsea 3-1.
They now take on league leaders Brighton, who have defeated both Luton Town and Wolves so far this season, winning both matches 4-1.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “It’s going to be a great chance to see where we are, because I thought we played really well against Chelsea, but Brighton are flying.
“That’s how you run an outfit, because every time they sell someone for millions they’ve got somebody there to replace them. You’ve never heard of them and you go ‘Wow, where did he come from?’
“That’s recruitment, that’s the top of the tree, fair play to Tony Bloom. Whoever he has for the recruitment is pretty awesome, you’ve got to hand it to him, because that’s impressive.

“They lose two or three players and they still come back and play that kind of football. The only thing I can say is enjoy the seaside. I’ll take Brighton to be the best team and we walk away with a 1-0 win, I’d be delighted with that.
“The football Brighton are playing, that’s the kind of football I want to go and watch every week. It’s the football West Ham used to play.
“I’d love to see it open up. If West Ham sit back and defend, we’ll get beaten, but if we have a go and take it to them, who knows, we might have a chance.”
In other West Ham news, Gabby Agbonlahor has named one Hammers player as the “signing of the summer” live on talkSPORT.
