Pundit shares verdict on David Moyes and David Sullivan ‘feud’ as West Ham United rumours fly

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium

David Moyes and David Sullivan might be feuding because the manager wants West Ham to sign new players and the board are refusing, says Frank McAvennie.

There were reports that the manager and co-owner were feuding, with Moyes edging closer to the sack at the London Stadium as results struggle to match expectation.

Owner Sullivan denied claims of a feud between the two, but McAvennie feels that there is probably something going on as he feels the owners want to sell next year and want to save as much money as they can before then.

“I don’t think that David [Moyes] would let that affect him when it comes to the team,” he told West Ham Zone.

“He wouldn’t put a team out that’s not good enough to win. Maybe he’s wanting players?

“I said to you a while ago that he’s selling up next year, so he’s not going to put the money in that David would want. I think they’ll sell Declan before they leave because it’s too much money for them not to walk away with.

“I hope I’m wrong, because it belongs to the club. But I just think, maybe David is asking for money for players.

“Because the players he’s brought in are squad players, they’ve not been going straight into the team. That’s the problem with West Ham now.

“He’s got them into Europe now a few times in a row and he deserves credit, but Mr Sullivan and Gold have said ‘we’ve not got any money left’ and now they need to tell him you’re not getting any money, so you need to go with what you’ve got.

“I don’t think they’re being spiteful and just not doing it. I think Moyes has wanted more players and the board have said no.
