Pundit shares ‘massive’ West Ham United verdict ahead of Premier League clash v Newcastle United
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes the match between West Ham United and Newcastle United is “massive” for the Hammers.
The East London club welcome the Magpies to the London Stadium for their Premier League clash on Sunday (8 October).
Eddie Howe’s men go into the clash on the back of a stunning 4-1 Champions League win over French outfit PSG on Wednesday (4 October).

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “It will be interesting, it will be a good game. I’m hoping they are still on a high and West Ham can beat them. I have been criticising David Moyes for the way they are playing, but they are doing it well. It’s working.
“I’m not going to say any more about Moyes. I just don’t like counter-attacking, but they are doing it very, very well, so credit where it’s due. After Newcastle’s win against PSG, this is going to be a massive game for West Ham.”

There is just a single point separating the two clubs in the table going into the clash in East London, with the hosts currently on 13 points and the visitors currently on 12.
Both David Moyes and Howe have had to manage their squads this season given their commitments outside the Premier League.
The Hammers are currently involved in the Europa League after winning the Conference League, with the Magpies now back in the Champions League.
In other West Ham news, an Aston Villa ace has revealed inspiration from the Hammers for their 6-1 win against Brighton.
