Pundit shares David Moyes sack verdict at West Ham United amid ‘Incredible’ claim
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie admits he doesn’t see David Moyes remaining at West Ham United next year with much of the club’s transfer business depending on whether he is there or not.
The Athletic reported on 11 December that Moyes is said to retain the full backing of the Hammers board despite the embarrassing 5-0 defeat to Fulham on Sunday (10 December).
Moyes’ position is said to not be under threat at this moment and he has the full support of those above him, but his stock among fans is threatening to nosedive again.

The Hammers may be busy in the January window as they desperately look to sign a new striker but McAvennie admits much of that will depend on Moyes’ future at the club.
Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “Danny Ings is not a West Ham striker.
“He’s a great striker and I know that sounds stupid but he’s not the striker West Ham need unless you’re going to play two strikers.
“It really depends on who’s going to come in next year because I can’t see Moyes staying.

“I mean, we spoke about it before, there’s no leaks around the club which is a bit strange considering its West Ham United we’re talking about.
“There are more leaks than Wikipedia at the club, I tell you, it’s incredible.
“There’s no news on whether he’s staying or he’s going so but Pablo Fornals, go and play, thanks for everything you’ve given us.”
No matter which camp you sit in, it is hard to defend that performance at Craven Cottage, with the players needing to take a lot of blame for what happened.

Moyes is the one who has his job on the line though, and there has to be that level of responsibility that is accepted by the manager with each game that passes.
It’s clear the Hammers need a new striker in quickly but given Moyes’ contract situation right now with just over six months left, the club may not want to commit until his future is sorted out and should they sign one now, it could be risky business.
