Pundit predicts result of West Ham United Premier League clash v Sheffield United
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham should have enough in their locker to come out victorious against Sheffield United in the Premier League on Sunday.
The Hammers enter the contest at Bramall Lane on Sunday (21 January) off the back of a disappointing FA Cup third-round replay exit to Bristol City in a 1-0 defeat on Tuesday (16 January) but have the chance to close the gap between themselves and the Champions League spots with a win.
West Ham prepare for Sunday’s clash without Lucas Paqueta, Michail Antonio and Mohammed Kudus but according to the Evening Standard (16 January), Jarrod Bowen could make a surprise return at Bramall Lane, despite initial fears that he could be out for up to six weeks.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “This is going to be a tough one but I think they should win.
“However, if they’re relying on Bowen, Mohammed Kudus and Paqueta then we’re in trouble. That’s not West Ham, we should really have enough talent and quality in our locker to come away with a win.
Sheffield United are no slouches but they’ve been pretty decent away from home so Moyes should have no excuses despite our supposed injury crisis.
There are plenty of internationals in the team to do a job against them and it’s up to the players who have been on the fringes to step up.

“It’s definitely gonna be interesting to see what we’re like again without Paqueta and Kudus but Bowen’s return should be a welcome boost if I’m honest. But he can’t be our only game-changer, should he?
“I’m going for a 2-1 win for the Hammers but without those guys, I’m worried about how we’ll cope.”
