Pundit predicts if West Ham United will make any more signings before transfer deadline
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes David Moyes wants to bring in one or two more bodies to the West Ham squad before Thursday’s transfer window deadline.
The Hammers have already made eight first-team signings this summer with Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola, Flynn Downes, Gianluca Scamacca, Maxwel Cornet, Thilo Kehrer, Emerson Palmieri and Lucas Paqueta all moving to the London Stadium.
But reports continue to suggest that Moyes is looking to bring in even more players, and McAvennie isn’t surprised considering the club’s participation in the Europa Conference League.

“I’d like to see another couple of players coming in to West Ham,” he told West Ham Zone.
“We’ve got boys coming back from injury. [Ogbonna] is just coming back, that’ll be like a new signing. I don’t think you can get enough in important positions like that.
“I don’t know much about bodies coming into midfield. We’re getting these boys from all over the world now. I would think David would want to bring one more in.
“I know it’s the [Europa League] Conference, but it’s a lot of games. They had one of the smallest squads anyway so I don’t think it would be a bad thing. I wouldn’t be surprised if they brought one or two in. We’ll wait and see how that goes.”
The club have reportedly not given up hope of doing a deal for Hans Vanaken from Club Brugge, while they have received encouragement in their chase for Aaron Wan-Bissaka too.
