Pundit: ‘Negative’ West Ham United ‘not nice to watch’, must win vs Fulham
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has blasted West Ham as “negative” and “not nice to watch” as he labelled the weekend clash with Fulham as a must-win game.
The Hammers have lost five of their opening eight fixtures in the Premier League this season, but claimed a big win over Wolves last time out to move out of the relegation zone.
But ahead of a London derby with Fulham on Sunday, McAvennie implored David Moyes to go for the win in a more attacking manner and questioned where the West Ham DNA of free-flowing football has disappeared to since last year.

“I’d still like David, I’d like them to go for teams,” he told West Ham Zone.
“Everyone seems to be so negative now, the managers. My God. It’s as if they’re scared to do anything.
“What happened to the free flowing football at West Ham? And David had a team last year that were great.
“They were playing great football, they were doing everything right and they were entertaining the crowd. And then this year, they’re not playing well and when they do win they’re so negative. It’s not nice to watch.
“You’ve got to get that balance right. It’s all about balance and David has got to get that sorted out and keep going.
“The World Cup will come as a blessing for David because they’ve got to start winning games. I said that to you before the Wolves game, but I think they’ve got to win that as well. I think they need to win that game. To give David a bit of breathing space.
“And then there’s not long to go before the boys get away for the World Cup. So he’ll get a breather then, and then they come back and it’s the January window.“
