Pundit makes West Ham United prediction v Sheffield United as ‘embarrassing’ claim made
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes Sheffield United have to “have a go” at West Ham United in their upcoming league clash.
The Blades travel to the London Stadium to take on the Hammers in the Premier League on Saturday (30 September).
They go into the game on the back of an 8-0 loss to Newcastle United, with David Moyes’s side losing 3-1 to Liverpool in their last league game.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “I hope they can play more freely, because they can’t be playing defensively. You know that Sheffield United are going to come at West Ham because they are hurt and need some points, some goals.
“We will probably get a couple of goals. I just hope we don’t give all the possession to Sheffield United. Why would they do that? The statistics don’t look good even when we do win.
“After getting beaten 8-0 by Newcastle, they have to go for it. It’s embarrassing, but I hope they don’t come back against West Ham.”

It’s been a miserable return to the Premier League for Sheffield United, who currently sit rock bottom of the table with one point.
They have yet to win any of their six matches since their promotion from the Championship, drawing once and losing the other five.
The home side meanwhile sit seventh in the Premier League table, winning three matches, drawing one and losing two.
In other West Ham news, a Premier League journalist has slammed Moyes and has mooted a “worrying pattern” for the club.
