Pundit has ‘nothing but praise’ for Jarrod Bowen, star player ‘loves’ West Ham United
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes Jarrod Bowen “loves” West Ham United and understands what it means to play for the club.
The attacker joined the Hammers from Hull City in 2020 and has gone on to make 170 appearances in claret and blue.
And that figure is set to increase after the winger signed a new contract with the club until 2030, as per the official West Ham website (8 October).

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “He’s just signed a new contract, so he loves West Ham. He definitely gets the club, the fans. He gets it.
“The fans are passionate, the city, it’s a part of the East End, and he gets all that. There was talk of him moving, but he’s signed a contract and he’s doing well.
“I’ve got nothing but praise for him. He got his chance for England too. There are a lot of people in front of him but he’s done well getting in. Long may it continue.”

Bowen has once again been the standout player for the East London club this season, with the attacker boasting six goals and two assists from his 12 matches in all competitions.
He was key to their very strong start to the new season, although the Hammers have slightly faded away in recent weeks.
They suffered their third successive defeat in all competitions with a 1-0 home loss to Everton on Sunday (29 October).

That Premier League defeat came after a 2-1 Europa League group stage loss to Olympiacos on Thursday (26 October).
And that disappointing away result followed a heavy 4-1 loss to Aston Villa in the Premier League last Sunday (22 October).
David Moyes’s side can now bounce back when they take on London rivals Arsenal in the League Cup round of 16 on Wednesday (1 November).
In other West Ham news, the Hammers want to sign a £40million-plus sensation, with a January transfer on the cards.
