Frank McAvennie is “delighted” after attacker Jarrod Bowen committed his long-term future to West Ham United.

As per the official West Ham website (8 October), the winger has signed a new deal to extend his stay in East London until 2030.

The England international joined the club from Hull City in January 2020, and has made 167 appearances in claret and blue.

Speaking to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “It’s a big one. Contracts mean nothing, but I’m delighted that he’s signed on. It shows the fans everything about him.

“He’s an East End boy. I’ve always wanted him there, he’s enjoying every minute of it, and it’s good to see.”

Everyone at the London Stadium will be absolutely overjoyed at the contract extension, with some fans perhaps fearing they would lose the winger in the upcoming transfer window.

He has been linked with an exit to some of the Premier League’s leading clubs in recent times, but any move away is now off the cards.

The 26-year-old has made a superb start to the new season, with Bowen registering five goals and two assists from his nine matches in all competitions.

That form has also earned him a recall to Gareth Southgate’s England squad, with the winger playing the entire 90 minutes as the Three Lions defeated Australia 1-0 on Friday (13 October).

In other West Ham news, David Moyes must seriously consider one award-winning Hammers sensation after his rapid rise.
