Pundit: Celtic star Liel Abada not good enough for West Ham United as £10m transfer speculation emerges
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has questioned if Liel Abada would be good enough for a West Ham move from Celtic after he was linked with a £10m move away.
The Israel international has been a key part of the recent success for Celtic under Ange Postecoglou but looks set for a summer exit after losing his place in the team.
Speculation has suggested that the Glasgow club would look for £10m to let him leave, with Premier League side Southampton linked with a move. But when asked if West Ham should join the race for his signature, McAvennie wasn’t sure he was ready for it.

“They’re going to want more than that, but if they can get £10m for him then they’d probably take that,” he told West Ham Zone.
“Make money on him and move him on.
“Abada’s not been playing and they’ve not missed him. If he wants to move on then fine, but I like him. I like him when he plays. If they can get a profit, they’d take him.
“I don’t know if he’s good enough for the Premier League though. They were talking about Ajax. He can go there. But is he good enough for the Premier League? No. Not yet.

“He’s only a young boy. I don’t think he would make it. I’m not saying he won’t at some point but at the moment, no. Not yet.”
Abada is a winger and with Jarrod Bowen linked with a move to Newcastle this summer, the Hammers may need to find a cheap replacement of a similar profile.
