Frank McAvennie says there is ‘no way’ Declan Rice joins Arsenal from West Ham this summer, while he says the Chelsea deal ‘is not going to happen’.

Rice has been linked with a £100m move away from the London Stadium this season [Telegraph], but the Hammers have remained stern in their £150m valuation and it’s believed Rice will stay despite refusing a new contract [Fabrizio Romano].

Now after Piers Morgan claimed that Arsenal should go all out for the midfielder, the former striker has said there is ‘no way’ that deal happens but admitted it’s down to the owners to convince him to stay.

“No way he’s going to Arsenal,” he told West Ham Zone.

“Not a chance. Not a chance. Listen, I think he’s still got a bit of honesty about the boy you know, he couldn’t go to Arsenal.

“The Chelsea thing is not going to happen, so you know.

“Man United would be the only team that really needs him. But they need a whole new midfield.

“It depends on the owners. If he sees them trying to bring in players that are going to better the team. I mean, it’s not fun trying to play in a team where you’re at the bare bones and all of a sudden you’re given the chance to go to the Champions League.”

West Ham

Rice wants Champions League football and if West Ham don’t win the Europa League this season then it seems highly unlikely that the club will be able to provide it to him any time soon.

But with three years remaining on his contract they are in the driver’s seat for any potential deal and it seems unlikely that anyone will match their valuation this summer.
