Niclas Fullkrug to be ‘perfect facilitator’ after surprising £27m West Ham move

Dan Bardell is surprised by West Ham signing Niclas Fullkrug but believes he will be a success.

The Hammers confirmed the signing of the Germany international on 5 August for a fee reported to be £27million [BBC Sport].

The 31-year-old featured for Borussia Dortmund as they reached the Champions League final so comes to the London Stadium with plenty of experience.

Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell has suggested the striker will benefit West Ham’s stars but was shocked by the fee involved.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “It is a move that has surprised me because he’s a bit of a cult hero in Germany. He is one of those players where fans of every club will like him.

It has taken him a while to get to the top level but with Dortmund signing Guirassy, someone had to go.

I am surprised about the fee considering his age but he could be the perfect man to play upfront for West Ham.

He could be the perfect facilitator for players like Bowen, Summerville, Kudus and Paqueta. He’s a better goal scorer than what they already have available.

Niclas Fullkrug backed for West Ham success

The Hammers have confirmed the signing of yet another striker and will be hopeful this one can be successful.

Even top-level strikers like Sebastien Haller and Gianluca Scamacca have failed at the London Stadium which is a concern.

Fullkrug performed well for Germany at the EUROs and with Dortmund signing Guirassy a move away makes sense for the physical forward.

His signing will allow for Julen Lopetegui to set up in different ways with both Michail Antonio and Danny Ings offering a different player profile.

If the Spaniard can have the likes of Bowen, Kudus and Paqueta all fit and firing, the Hammers will be successful and Fullkrug could be the man to facilitate that.

In other West Ham news, the Hammers are still expected to sign another Premier League defender after landing a trio of additions further forward.
