Lukasz Fabianski exit speculated at West Ham United amid £8.5m European transfer development
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
West Ham must be looking to sell one of Lukasz Fabianski or Alphonse Areola if they want to sign another goalkeeper this summer, according to Frank McAvennie.
Greek news outlet Sportime reported on 4 July that the Hammers are interested in signing £8.5million-rated PAOK goalkeeper Dominik Kotarski.
The 23-year-old Croatian joined Greek Super League side PAOK last year from Ajax and kept 18 clean sheets and conceded just 37 goals in 41 appearances across all competitions.

However, McAvennie cannot understand why the Hammers would be looking at Kotarski when they already have two experienced goalkeepers in Fabianski and Areola.
When asked by West Ham Zone if he thinks West Ham need another goalkeeper, McAvennie said: “I don’t think so. They’ve got two keepers there that they know.
“I don’t know the boy (Kotarksi) so I can’t really comment on him.
“£10million in today’s market isn’t a lot – I can’t believe I’m saying that, ‘£10million isn’t a lot’. But in terms of football and the way the world’s going at the moment, it’s not.
“He would just be challenging and you can only have one goalkeeper sitting on the bench unless one of Fabianski or Areola are leaving. That would be the only reason for a new goalkeeper to be signed unless they go out for one of the big ones for £80million.
“I don’t think they should be spending £8million to £10million on a goalkeeper if you don’t know if they’ll make it.
“It’s a strange one because they’ve got two goalkeepers there – unless one of them is going to leave.”
In other West Ham news, an “incredible” cash boost could head to the Hammers based on this Asian transfer speculation.
