Lopetegui told to start Summerville in West Ham United showdown v Nottingham Forest
Julen Lopetegui must start Crysencio Summerville when West Ham travel to The City Ground to face Nottingham Forest, Frank McAvennie has said.
The two sides will go head-to-head in another Premier League clash on Saturday 2 November, with both coming in off the back of wins last weekend.
Summerville was key to the Hammers’ 2-1 win over Manchester United at the London Stadium, scoring the opening goal before Jarrod Bowen netted the winner from the penalty spot.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said: “I like him. He’s come up from the Championship so it’s going to take time because the Premier League is a different animal; it’s a massive gap.
“The boy’s got the talent and ability to play in the Premier League, and even be a starter, but he’s just settling in. He certainly should be starting, for me, especially with Kudus out. When he comes back, I’m not sure who gets left out. It’s a strange one.
“I like Summerville because he picks the ball up and just runs at people. He makes things happen and I like that in a player. I would give him more starts. It’s down to the manager to pick the right people.”

With Mohammed Kudus suspended, the majority of fans expected the new signing to start on the left wing against the Red Devils but were disappointed when Carlos Soler was given the nod.
Summerville only has one Premier League start to his name since arriving from Leeds United in the summer, though he has proven in short cameos just what he is capable of when given the chance.
After Soler’s torrid first half at the London Stadium, Lopetegui’s hands are now tied when it comes to starting Summerville at The City Ground.
In other West Ham news, the club have approached the staff of a new striker whose exit is seen as “inevitable”.
