LLDC could get hands on money from new West Ham United deal – Finance Expert

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...

Dan Plumley has insisted that it is understandable for LLDC to want some part of any agreement which sees West Ham United secure new sponsorship.

It has been reported that the LLDC want a London Stadium partner, which will see sponsorship on the roof, which could be another way to get around the betting ban.

The finance expert admitted that it could be worth more than the current £10million deal with BetWay for shirt sponsorship for those involved.

“It seems to be from the reading of that, it seems to be if it is a rights partner then LLDC would want some part of that which is understandable given the arrangements,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“It does open the door for West Ham to do that which has not been the case in the past so it is a win-win for both parties.

It just depends on what kind of deal they can strike and obviously, West Ham won’t get the whole of it, by the sounds. It’s still an additional revenue stream for the club.

It’s really tricky as you go off benchmarks from the past, but I think if you’re the club, you’re obviously looking to drive as much value from it, so if £10million is the benchmark, you might go a little bit higher on that and see where it fits.”

Much of this could depend on what happens over the summer in regard to how much West Ham United may be able to charge for stadium sponsorship deals.

Should Daniel Kretinsky increase his stake, he will have more power and influence over deals, as well as the potential to lift the Europa Conference League which draws more eyes.
