Keith Hackett reacts to controversial Wolves vs West Ham footage
West Ham suffered a dismal 3-0 defeat to Wolves on Saturday afternoon.
West Ham were without Lucas Paqueta for the Molineux clash, with Crysencio Summerville taking the Brazilian’s place in the starting line-up.
The Hammers thought they would have a chance to equalise when the hosts were 1-0 up, when Summerville was brought down in the penalty area in the 15th minute.
However, the spot kick was not awarded, and former PGMOL chief Keith Hackett has given his opinion on the incident.
What did Hackett say about West Ham penalty claim
Hackett believes that Peter Bankes and the VAR team were right to not award Nuno Espirito Santo‘s side with a penalty.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “When you award a penalty kick, you want to be 100% certain that a foul has taken place.
“There is certainly a coming together of two players in my opinion, the forward going to ground rather too easily.
“Therefore, fully understand why, even after VAR check a penalty kick was not awarded. I support this decision.”

Why Nuno has to be on thin ice now
Nuno has been subject to sack rumours for weeks now, but so far the club’s stance has been to back him.
That was clear by the spending spree that they have embarked on in the opening stages of the window, with Pablo already signed and Taty Castellanos on the way.
However, while there is enthusiasm around those signings, losing to the worst team in the league, who have not won a league game all season, will take all of that away.
| Played | Won | Drawn | Lost | Points |
| 16 | 3 | 5 | 8 | 14 |
The Hammers have lost eight times in his 16 matches in charge, with just three victories and five draws, which is not good enough.
The Portuguese boss must surely be on thin ice after the embarrassing result.
