Keith Hackett: David Moyes could be set for UEFA touchline ban at West Ham United
We’re delighted to welcome former Premier League referee Keith Hackett as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...
Keith Hackett has insisted that West Ham United boss David Moyes is set to serve a UEFA suspension after his actions against Frankfurt in the Europa League.
The ex-FIFA official admitted it could just be a touchline ban, sharing that Moyes would not be allowed contact with anyone in his coaching staff or team in a selected game.
Moyes is set to face trouble after the West Ham boss kicked a ball towards a Frankfurt ball-boy out of frustration as his side crashed out of the Europa League.

“I think that he will serve a suspension,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.
“Let’s say it’s a touchline ban, I think it’s important to understand what that means in relation to UEFA, it means that the manager is now allowed to liaise with the team inside the stadium.
“So, what happens? The manager arrives at the stadium and he has to go directly to the directors’ box to sit alongside the match delegate – UEFA personnel. He cannot convey messages to the technical area, he can’t go down at half time, this is not just a touchline ban, this includes inside the stadium, no communication with his team.”

Not great.
It obviously didn’t look great at the time, but this was blown way out of proportion at the time.
Moving on into a new week, and it looks as though it is going to end in a suspension for Moyes, which would be a joke compared to other things managers say and do around Europe.
It is unknown whether the UEFA suspension could only be enforced in European games, meaning it may not happen should we fail to qualify at the end of this season.
Right now, the Irons are in a good spot and if they do qualify, they may be forced to start their next European run without their boss’ input – time will tell.
In other West Ham United news, Yaya Toure has said he would be open to helping this Irons star improve to the next level
