Karren Brady sent message after West Ham United behind-the-scenes decision made

Karren Brady must revisit the West Ham ticket prices ahead of the opening day of the Premier League, Frank McAvennie has said.

The Hammers are set to face Aston Villa and Manchester City in the first two home games of the season, and fans could be paying as much as £120 for some seats, with no difference in price between Under-18s, OAPs and accessibility tickets [WHUFC].

The decision on ticket prices has caused outrage, which has certainly not been helped by describing the fans as “customers” and McAvennie has pleaded for Brady to revisit the pricing.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “I know Karren Brady wants ‘visitors’ as she calls them, but you have to take proper care of the people who moved from Upton Park.

“The prices should be coming down, not going up. For me, it’s something she should sit down and read again.”

While owning a football club is a business, and all parties want to make as much profit as possible, this should not come at the expense of the passionate, hard-working fans.

Families are beginning to be priced out of going to watch their beloved team, with prices soaring to watch the team at the London Stadium.

And after the Hammers missed out on European football last season, the cost should be going down rather than up, which Brady does not seem to understand.

Fans wish for new owners and chairmen to understand what the club means to the people, but Brady sees them as “customers” as opposed to the supporters who have played an important role in the club’s history up to this point.

Without the fans, the football club becomes nothing, and Brady needs to see this before it is too late. Fewer and fewer fans will be going to games if the ticket prices continue to rise.
