Kalvin Phillips causes anger as ExWHUemployee shares West Ham United and Manchester City transfer news
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie is angry with Kalvin Phillips for being happy to sit on the bench at Manchester City despite interest from West Ham United.
Phillips, 27, may have won the treble in his debut season at the Etihad but the former Leeds star barely played for Pep Guardiola and barely impressed in the limited chances he did have on the pitch.
ExWHUemployee reported on Thursday (16 June) that Man City could use Phillips in a bid to sign Declan Rice. It is understood they could offer up to £80million as well as the England international.

However, reliable insider Ex later reported on Thursday on the West Ham Way Patreon page that Phillips doesn’t want to move to the London Stadium because he wants to fight for his place at Man City.
McAvennie doesn’t understand that approach because he thinks it’s now clear Phillips isn’t good enough for the Premier League champions.
Even though the ex-Hammers striker believes Phillips would be a good replacement for Rice, it doesn’t sound as though he’d be keen on him due to this latest development.
“Of course. I was speaking about it before and I thought Lewis Ferguson would’ve been the ideal replacement for Declan Rice,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone.

“I would’ve got him in before he went to Italy, he’s the exact same kind of player as Declan and he would have grown into it.
“Who would I want now? Phillips’ hunger has gone if he wants to sit there.
“He’s not going to get into the Man City team – sorry pal, but you’re not good enough.
“You’re not that kind of player. He’s not that kind of player.
“He’d get a game every week at West Ham and if he doesn’t want to go then thanks for letting us know. Sit on the bench. I just don’t get it.
“I would question him and his lack of commitment.“
