Jose Mourinho set for ‘fantastic’ Premier League return as West Ham set to open talks
West Ham could soon bring Jose Mourinho back to the Premier League.
Mourinho is said to be keen on the West Ham job after being sacked by Fenerbahce ahead of the new Super Lig campaign.
This comes at a time when Graham Potter is facing an uncertain future at West Ham, although he has been helped by the 3-0 win against Nottingham Forest.
With that being said, Alan Brazil believes Mourinho’s agent will be in contact with West Ham if a chance to move to the London Stadium comes up.
If Potter is to face the sack, Mourinho will seemingly be waiting in the wings as the Hammers look set to open up negotiations with the ex-Real Madrid boss.

This story includes exclusive comment from former manager Martin Allen.
West Ham could benefit from Jose Mourinho appointment
There is no getting away from the fact that the Portuguese head coach has superb experience and is famed as being one of the best in the game.
As a result, with Mourinho potentially in London ahead of a West Ham move, the Irons could soon take advantage of the opportunity.
As big a name as the former Chelsea man is, there may prove to be reservations around his tactical approach and lack of exciting football.
This isn’t a concern for ex-Premier League midfielder Allen, who believes the claret and blue faithful are now solely focused on points rather than style of play.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Allen said: “He’s always been a fantastic organiser with teams that are difficult to beat.
“That has been his way. If he came in and played that way and got enough points to stay in the Premier League, fans would be happy.
“I think, at the moment, every fan would say, ‘Who cares about the style of play? We want points.’ He’s always found a way of doing that.
“If West Ham are looking for a new manager and he’s available, then he’s one they would certainly talk to.“

Jose Mourinho could open initial West Ham talks
As it stands, it appears that Potter’s future is stable after an excellent win against Nottingham Forest in a hugely surprising fashion.
This could all change after the international break, with clashes against Tottenham, Crystal Palace and Everton coming up in the Premier League.
Date | Opponent | Stadium |
13/09/25 | Tottenham (H) | London Stadium |
20/09/25 | Crystal Palace (H) | London Stadium |
29/09/25 | Everton (A) | Hill Dickinson Stadium |
04/10/25 | Arsenal (A) | Emirates Stadium |
20/10/25 | West Ham (H) | London Stadium |
If that is to be the case, Mourinho looks likely to be prepared to take up the role if given the chance, something which could see very early discussions take place while Potter is still in the job.
