‘High pedigree’ Carlos Soler to suit West Ham better than exit-bound Ward-Prowse
Dan Bardell believes Carlos Soler will suit West Ham better than James Ward-Prowse under Julen Lopetegui.
Fabrizio Romano reported on 30 August that the Hammers have agreed a loan with an option to buy for £16.8million from PSG for the Spaniard.
This deal looks set to happen in conjunction with a loan move for the Irons midfielder to Nottingham Forest [David Ornstein].
Sky Sports and talkSPORT journalist Bardell thinks the deal makes sense as Lopetegui looks to take his side in a new tactical direction.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, Bardell said: “It is clear that Lopetegui is putting his stamp on the club.
“I think it’s one in, one out. With James Ward-Prowse going out on loan they have room to bring in someone more suited to Lopetegui like Soler.
“He is a high-pedigree player having gone to PSG, I think he’ll fit what the manager wants more than Ward-Prowse.“
Carlos Soler set to join West Ham
The former Valencia star appears to be on his way to the London Stadium before the transfer window slams shut for the summer.
Soler looks set to displace Ward-Prowse in East London just 12 months after he was signed from Southampton for £30m [Sky Sports].
Considering he is being moved on so soon after signing, it seems pretty clear that Lopetegui has lots of faith in the PSG midfielder.

The Spaniard has plenty of experience of European football but it will be an interesting test to see how he performs in the Premier League if he signs.
