Frank McAvennie warns West Ham to act fast for Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham must take urgent action if they want to sign Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham this summer.
The 23-year-old is the number one target for David Moyes according to Irons insider ExWHUemployee on the June 1st episode of his West Ham Way podcast.
He said: “Tammy Abraham is the one that I believe is Moyes’s number one target.

“The valuations seem to be a little bit out on this, however. Moyes sees him as a £25 million forward and Chelsea see him as a £40 million player.
“He has definitely been told that he can leave now.”
But the Daily Mirror reported on June 26 that Aston Villa were set to table a £40million bid for the attacker Uruguay legend Luis Suarez called “incredible” in 2019 [OneFootball].
Ex-Irons forward McAvennie was adamant West Ham must speed up their recruitment process in order not to miss out.
When asked by West Ham Zone whether the club need to act fast, he said: “I think so. They’ve got to be in and about, they’ll be doing their work at the moment that’s for sure.
“I know it’s hard with a tournament on at the moment, and once it finishes then it will all start.
“But I would like to see business done early. “

Abraham would be the ideal signing for the Irons this summer, but the mouthwatering sums mentioned might just see us priced out of a deal.
It appears that we may be going down a slightly different route in the transfer market these days after the successes of players like Tomas Soucek and Craig Dawson.
Moyes may be eyeing cheaper recruits who are seen as less of a risk, with GSB likely to be mindful of the huge loss they incurred on Sebastien Haller when he was sold to Ajax in January.
However, Abraham is a proven Premier League goalscorer who is still very young and would have a big resale value, so if it’s a deal that is at all feasible, we should not be hesitating.
