Frank McAvennie wants West Ham duo to convince Alex Kral to sign this summer
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Tomas Soucek and Vladimir Coufal should make attempts to persuade international teammate Alex Kral to sign for West Ham this summer.
That’s the view of ex-Irons ace Frank McAvennie after numerous reports linking Kral with a move to the London Stadium.
Sky Sports reported the club’s interest last month [25/05/21] while the Czech Republic midfielder sent pulses racing after he liked a tweet from the official West Ham Twitter account.
Kral is set to star for his national team at the upcoming European Championships alongside Irons pair Soucek and Coufal, and McAvennie wants the duo to lean in on their teammate and advise him to move to east London.
“Every West Ham fan will tell you, ‘have a word’, because if Kral is anything like Coufal or Soucek, get him in,” he told West Ham Zone.
“That’s the fight and spirit you need at West Ham, so I would be delighted if somebody like that came in.
“If those two are recommending him, Soucek obviously recommended Coufal and if the pair of them are recommending somebody as well…
“You tell the truth because it’s your team, these boys will know who he is.”
Czech him out
Like McAvennie said, if our previous Czech signings are anything to go by, then Kral could be an absolute gem.
Soucek joined on loan midway through the 2019/20 season and impressed enough to earn a permanent deal, and he took his game to another level last season as he scored 10 Premier League goals, level with Michail Antonio as our top scorer.
Coufal, meanwhile, joined at the start of the season, and was a reliable member of our solid backline while bombing up and down the right-flank to offer assistance going forward.
Soucek and Declan Rice need able deputies in midfield and Kral could be the perfect fit.
