Frank McAvennie: Tottenham game won’t be a problem for West Ham

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium

It has been a very busy season so far for West Ham and it doesn’t appear to be slowing down after they advanced to the quarter-finals of the Europa League.

The Hammers came from behind to knock Sevilla out of the continent’s second-biggest competition and keep their hopes of silverware alive this season.

But with such a small squad, David Moyes might start facing injury problems as fatigue kicks in for some of his more regular starters.

Ex-Irons striker Frank McAvennie believes those issues won’t come today when the Hammers travel to Tottenham, given the rivalry between the two clubs, but it will start to come soon for Moyes.

“He’s going to have to use his squad,” McAvennie exclusively told West Ham Zone. “I can tell you right now that those players will want to play against Tottenham.

“That won’t be a problem but the game after that might be.

“Every game is a cup final to West Ham now if they want to get into the European spots again.

Luckily, Man United are choking but they might get into the Champions League by winning the Europa League, who knows?”

The visit to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium could be key in the race for the European places which both teams are locked into with neither wanting to miss out on the chance to travel the continent.

The fact that it will be a heated London derby just adds even more spice to an already intense game and it looks to be a tasty affair.

In other West Ham news, a supercomputer has made its prediction on whether the Irons are going to win the Europa League this season.
