Frank McAvennie suggests West Ham could look to loan Armstrong Okoflex in the January transfer window, with Celtic mooted as a possible destination.

Okoflex, 19, only joined West Ham in June 2021, signing a two-year deal with an option for a third year after leaving Celtic.

The Dublin-born winger spent three years at the Scottish giants but left upon the expiry of his contract during the summer.

He returned to Parkhead in July, appearing as a substitute and scoring in a 6-2 friendly victory for the visitors.

Following the return of the club’s international stars Okoflex has since been demoted back to the Under-23 squad, where he has made a big impression, scoring three goals in six Premier League 2 games.

Football London‘s Tom Clark has now suggested the Irons may look to loan him out during the January transfer window in order for him to gain regular first-team football at senior level.

McAvennie, who starred for both West Ham and Celtic during a distinguished playing career, is a fan of the teenager, and believes he could slot straight into the Bhoys midfield.

“He’s only a boy,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone. “He’ll not be the first wonderful player that Celtic’s not signed. I just think they’ve got to get heir house in order Celtic, they’re letting too many young players go.

“That’s a good kid that they’ve let go. He’d probably get a game for them now. Maybe they’ll send him back to Celtic on loan. They could do with a decent player in midfield.”
