Frank McAvennie reacts as West Ham reportedly want to sign Alexis Sanchez
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has urged West Ham to avoid signing Alexis Sanchez after the Chilean forward was recently linked with a move to the London Stadium.
According to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, the Irons have already “tested the waters” over a move for the 32-year-old, with a January exit from Inter Milan taking shape.
The 142-cap Chile star joined the Serie A giants in 2019 after a hugely disappointing spell at Manchester United, and he helped Inter to win the league last season, scoring seven goals in 30 appearances.

However, the forward who Pep Guardiola said had stolen his heart [Sky Sports] during their time together at Barcelona, appears surplus to requirements this season, playing just four times in all competitions.
Ex-Irons star McAvennie has warned West Ham off any thoughts of a January move, though.
“Oh god, no,” McAvennie exclaimed to West Ham Zone upon hearing Sanchez linked. “You’d hope not.

“Listen, he’s one of these guys, he’s made so much money, he’s not really bothered now. I think that’s what happened to him at Manchester United, he was getting £400,000-500,000 a week, he didn’t give a monkeys.
“He’s a good player, and he was a good player at Arsenal when he wanted to play, but the big players of this world, they play all the time.”
In other West Ham news, the Irons have made contact over this 16-cap centre-forward amid his current contract impasse.
