Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham clash v Newcastle – Exclusive

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie has backed West Ham to beat Newcastle United in their Premier League clash on Saturday afternoon.

The former Hammers striker has predicted that it will be a 2-1 away win at St. James’ Park, as David Moyes’ men look to cement their top-four spot.

After tight games with Wolves and Leicester recently, the Irons will be wanting a straight-forward encounter in the North East.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie joked, “I’m going to say that West Ham will go 3-1 up, and then win 3-2

“In all seriousness, I think they will score goals against Newcastle – I’m going to say 2-1 to West Ham.”

Better squad?

Jonjo Shelvey bizarrely came out and shared that he believes the Irons don’t have a better squad than Newcastle, despite there being a 23-point gap in the table.

That has been the perfect motivation served to West Ham already, who will be out to prove a huge point once again this weekend.

Moyes shared a disappointing update on Friday, with Declan Rice and Michail Antonio not close to returning to the matchday squad anytime soon.

Step forward the likes of Jesse Lingard, who has been incredible since his loan move to the London Stadium, and will be critical to our Champions League dream.

We would prefer a bigger, more comfortable margin of victory at Newcastle, but three points remain the main goal right now.
