Frank McAvennie predicts West Ham transfer activity to ramp up over next week
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes West Ham will be upping the ante over the net seven days and make some movements in the transfer market.
It’s been a slow window so far for the Irons, with goalkeeper Alphonse Areola the only new face in the senior squad.
West Ham kick off their Premier League campaign at Newcastle United next Sunday [15/08/21], and there doesn’t appear to be any new additions imminent.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, former Irons attacker McAvennie has predicted the club to make positive strides when asked if transfer activity might ramp up over the next week.
“I think it will,” McAvennie said.
“I think he [David Moyes] has to go and buy players. I think, from what I’ve gathered, he’s going for a central defender.”

West Ham Zone View
Business has to ramp up over the next seven days – it’s pretty unforgivable if it doesn’t.
We enjoyed a spectacular 2020/21 campaign under Moyes last year, clinching sixth place and a Europa League berth in May, and as such the board have had three months to identify, negotiate and recruit new players.
But we’ve only brought in a new goalkeeper so far, one who may not even begin the season in the starting XI, and we’ve lost one of the most important players of the second half of the season in Jesse Lingard, who has returned to his parent club Manchester United following his successful loan spell in east London.
Our squad looks especially light because key stars like Declan Rice have only just returned to training and will need time to get up to speed.
It’s been a sorry sight so far this summer, and we’re desperate, rather than hopeful, that new signings will arrive soon.
