Frank McAvennie expects West Ham to reward Vladimir Coufal with a lucrative contract
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie believes Vladimir Coufal could be set for a lucrative new West Ham contract after Steve Bower’s recent update.
The BBC commentator, speaking during live coverage of Czech Republic’s clash with Croatia on June 18, suggested the right-back was in line to net a new deal with the Irons.
He said Coufal was “so close to a new Hammers deal”.

Ex-Irons striker McAvennie believes David Gold and David Sullivan will reluctantly hand over big money.
He told West Ham Zone: “David Moyes will bring him in and say ‘Mr Sullivan and Mr Gold, new contract’.
“They’re not stupid, they’ll give him a really good deal.
“They’ll give him a really good deal to keep him, they wouldn’t have wanted to give him megabucks until they realise that they can go in and complain, and they’ll do that again I imagine.
“As long as they’re rewarding the players then they will come to West Ham.”

Deserved
Coufal’s performances have certainly warranted a new contract.
He may have joined us less than a year ago, but he’s already proven that he’s one of the best right-backs in the division.
The 28-year-old has been a colossus at the back while he has been a powerhouse going forwards, often found patrolling the right flank and looking to fire balls into the box for Michail Antonio.
He was one of our most consistent performers in the 2020/21 campaign, and he is set to be a big player once more for us as we head into the Europa League.
In other West Ham news, Roy Keane has been blown away by this ‘Unbelievable’ Irons star who is a ‘Hell of a player’.
