Frank McAvennie expecting big things from West Ham debut for Alex Kral

We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…

Frank McAvennie has predicted big things for Alex Kral as he could make his West Ham United debut against Southampton.

The midfielder arrived from Spartak Moscow on a loan-to-buy deal on deadline day during the international break.

McAvennie insisted that a long-term replacement in needed for Mark Noble, who isn’t set to be available for much longer.

Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said, “It makes sense.

“West Ham don’t have loads of midfielders. Nobes is coming to the end of his career and what a career it was. He will be missed so getting another player in there just makes sense.

“Hopefully, he’s as good as the other Czech lads. Moyes knows what he’s doing so I’m hoping for big things.”

Big debut?

Declan Rice and Tomas Soucek will start the game at St Mary’s, there is no doubt behind that.

David Moyes now has options, and it has been a long time since he has had that available in this squad at the London Stadium.

Kral is the perfect rotation option for the Irons and gives the opportunity to rest players such as Rice and Soucek who will now have a reduced risk of injuries.

McAvennie backs the Czech resolution at the London Stadium, and fingers crossed that Kral can carry on this momentum of brilliant signings.
