Frank McAvennie slams Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid West Ham-Declan Rice contract claim
We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has warned Declan Rice off leaving West Ham for Manchester United amid the Red Devils’ recent struggles.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side are currently six points behind the third-placed Irons in the Premier League table as Rice spearheads a possible tilt for Champions League qualification.
The 22-year-old England international has been in fine form this season, further fuelling speculation that elite-level clubs will be in the hunt for his signature.

Claret and Hugh reported last week that the Irons have halted contract talks with Rice until the end of the season.
It’s understood that Rice could consider offers from ‘Champions League’ clubs.
But ex-Irons attacker McAvennie has poured cold water on those claims, suggesting the grass is not always greener on the other side.
“I think Declan is quite happy there,” McAvennie told West Ham Zone. “I don’t know where he would go.

“Manchester United are the only team and they’re below them, why would you want to go there at the moment?
“I’m not being disrespectful but I couldn’t play for Ole. I look at him and I just don’t think Ole would inspire me. If he was shouting and bawling at me, I’d probably start laughing. I look at Ole and think ‘great player’, but as a manager…”
In other West Ham news, Darren Gough predicts the Irons to make a major move in the January transfer window to sign this player.
