Finance Expert reacts as West Ham United bank £1.2m from FIFA World Cup
We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...
Dan Plumley has insisted that it is a “win-win” situation for West Ham United after they learned their World Cup windfall which is set to arrive from FIFA.
The Finance Expert admitted that the windfall alongside players returning with zero injuries make the mid-season disruption somewhat worth it for the Irons.
It was reported by The Times that £1.2million was the eventual figure earned as the likes of Lucas Paqueta, Nayef Aguerd, Alphonse Areola and Declan Rice went to the Quarter-Finals or further.

“It is that argument of every little helps,” he exclusively told West Ham News.
“It’s been the first World Cup we’ve seen in the middle of a season and the disruption it’s caused the clubs so anything they can claw back will be welcomed, and of course, putting an extra £1.2million through without having to work hard for it, that’s pretty good.
“Obviously then for the clubs, you are hoping that those players that have played have come back in injury-free, then it’s a win-win.”

David Gold and Sullivan will have been rubbing their hands together watching the success of West Ham United players at the World Cup, mainly for the financial reward.
The added benefit of Aguerd and Morocco making it all the way to the third-fourth place play-off was massive for this windfall as it hit seven figures.
Every little certainly does help, especially when missing out on that weekly matchday revenue from the Premier League, which is finally back in one week.
Bring it on.
