Finance Expert: London Stadium deal fantastic as West Ham United bill paid by taxpayers

We’re delighted to welcome football finance expert Dr Daniel Plumley as our exclusive West Ham United columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium...

Dan Plumley has insisted that West Ham United are benefitting from their London Stadium arrangement as taxpayers have been footed with a bill for more stewarding.

The Finance Epxert admitted that this is just another layer of the business-savvy agreement for the Hammers, with most clubs having to sort out their won bills.

It has been reported by the Evening Standard that a £500,000 bill has been picked up for additional stewards after trouble at home games this season.

“Absolutely, it’s a benefit of the arrangement,” he exclusively told West Ham Zone.

“We keep saying with this deal, little things like this, it’s just another layer of fracturing in how good of a deal West Ham got with the stadium.

“It’s quite a business savvy deal when you strip it back, but obviously, it’s not great for the taxpayer because most times clubs have got to foot that bill themselves.”

Nothing makes David Gold and Sullivan rub their hands together more than saving some of their hard-earned cash at the London Stadium, especially after finally letting the purse strings loose in the summer.

Many other clubs may not like this, but that is likely because they will have to foot their own bills, rather than this incredible agreement which appears to only be getting stronger at the London Stadium.

This is certainly something to keep an eye on though, with only more benefits likely to come our way should this savvy deal continue to keep paying out for the Hammers.
