We’re delighted to welcome former West Ham United striker Frank McAvennie as our exclusive columnist. Each week he’ll be giving his views on the biggest talking points at the London Stadium…
Frank McAvennie has dismissed rumours linking West Ham United midfielder Tomas Soucek with a switch to Manchester United.
The Daily Star and online outlets such as EuroSport have claimed that the Red Devils could swoop for the Czech Republic international at the end of the season.
McAvennie compared the links to Chelsea and Declan Rice, claiming that the Hammers duo are both happy where they are at the London Stadium.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, McAvennie said, “I think he’s happy there.
“He’ll be on big money, but Manchester United aren’t going to win anything so I wouldn’t worry. I think United have got decent midfield players so is he going to go there?
“We’ve seen the Rice links to Chelsea, the two of them in midfield are relishing it every week, they’re enjoying it here and that’s the biggest compliment I can give them.”
There are no reasons why either Rice or Soucek would want to leave the Hammers.
West Ham are currently fourth in the Premier League, ahead of the likes of Liverpool, Chelsea and Spurs, and are well in the talk for European football, maybe even the Champions League.
Soucek has been one of the driving forces behind this success.
No one has won more aerial duels this season in Europe’s Top Five Leagues according to WyScout, and his goals have earned valuable points.
David Moyes has built his squad around the likes of Rice and Soucek, and keeping hold of both of them will be a massive statement of intent.
