Doctor gives West Ham green signal to seal major Fofana transfer
West Ham are looking to strengthen their side ahead of the 2025/26 campaign, after a dismal performance last season.
Angers goalkeeper Yahia Fofana has emerged as a potential target for the Hammers as they’re keen on bringing in someone in that role.
The Ivory Coast international has been at the Ligue 1 side since 2022, when he moved from Le Havre.

This story includes exclusive opinion from injury expert Dr Rajpal Brar, who is a specialist in Physical Therapy and a Sports Scientist.
Fofana expected to have no issues clearing his medical
The 24-year-old is not expected to take too long to adapt to the Premier League or face issues clearing his medical, according to Dr Brar.
West Ham are said to be keen on Fofana as Graham Potter wants a new goalkeeper in this transfer window. (L’Equipe, 10 July)
Dr Brar told West Ham Zone: “He played all but one league game last season and that’s when he was on the bench.
“There’s nothing in his injury history that raises red flags.
“I expect him to clear his medical.
“As he’s a goalkeeper, the adaptation will also not be as tricky as it would be for an outfielder.”

West Ham should seriously consider signing Fofana
Signing Fofana is a smart move for West Ham, addressing their goalkeeping needs with a low-risk, high-reward addition.
The 24-year-old Angers goalkeeper, with 18 Ivory Coast caps and an Africa Cup of Nations title, brings proven quality, having saved 13.03 goals and kept seven clean sheets in 33 Ligue 1 matches last season.
| Stat (Ligue 1 24/25) | Yahia Fofana |
| Appearances | 33 |
| Clean sheets | 7 |
| High claims | 48 |
| Accurate long balls | 182 |
His 72.58% save percentage and 88th percentile ranking for stopping crosses highlight his elite shot-stopping and aerial dominance, ideal for the Premier League’s physicality.
With Lukasz Fabianski’s departure and Alphonse Areola’s struggles, Fofana offers reliable competition and potential as a number one.
His modest transfer fee, bolstered by funds from Mohammed Kudus’ sale, makes him a cost-effective signing to strengthen the London Stadium outfit’s defence.
