Crysencio Summerville set for stardom at West Ham United as new comparison made
Frank McAvennie has tipped Crysencio Summerville to follow in Jarrod Bowen’s footsteps after joining West Ham this summer.
The 22-year-old winger arrived at the London Stadium in a deal worth upwards of £25million, as per BBC Sport, but has made just one Premier League start after playing a stellar role for Leeds United last term.
Many fans have called for Julen Lopetegui to give the Dutchman more time in the starting XI, having shown bright sparks in his substitute appearances so far, and McAvennie agrees.
Speaking exclusively to West Ham Zone, he said: “I think he’s been bright, always looking to get at his opponent. The more he plays, the better. Jarrod Bowen came from Hull City, and it took him a few games but David Moyes believed in him.
“That’s what is going to happen with this guy. He’s another young, exciting kid, who has no fears. I like that. He goes to get the ball and he doesn’t care about who they’re playing. He just hasn’t had much help recently.”
Crysencio Summerville to become West Ham United star?
Summerville certainly has the potential to be the next special star in East London, though he needs more time to settle in with the Hammers, especially given the team’s current form.
Lopetegui is seriously struggling to implement his playing style effectively, with the Irons now without a win in five games, last beating Bournemouth in the EFL Cup in August.
Of course, living up to Bowen’s legacy at the London Stadium is an extremely big ask, with the 27-year-old leading the club to European glory, notching 62 goals and 40 assists in 210 appearances.

Summerville, however, nearly pushed Leeds to Premier League promotion last season, recording 19 goals and nine assists in the Championship, seeing him earn a move to the top division.
He is certainly one player for all fans to keep an eye on. Lopetegui has a gem on his hands; he just needs to work out how to utilise him best at the London Stadium.
In other West Ham news, one regular has surely edged closer to a January exit as a new transfer update emerges.
